Himalaya Day

06-09-2025

Sunrise Academy organized a special program on Himalaya Day on 6th September 2025 for the students of Classes V to VIII. The program aimed at spreading awareness about the importance of the mighty Himalayas and the urgent need for their conservation.

The event began with the screening of a short video message by Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami ji on Himalayan conservation. His words highlighted the vital role of the Himalayas as the lifeline of millions of people. The message was further elaborated by Dr. Bhavtosh from UCOST, who emphasized the scientific aspects of conservation.

The highlight of the day was the presence of Padmashree Kalyan Singh Rawat ji, an eminent environmentalist and the founder of the renowned Maitee Movement. He was warmly welcomed and honored by the school’s Managing Director and Principal. In his address, Rawat ji spoke about the journey of the Maitee Movement, its roots in Uttarakhand, and how it has now spread across various states of India and many countries worldwide. He beautifully explained how this initiative connects emotional traditions with ecological responsibility by encouraging brides to plant saplings during weddings, thereby creating a lifelong bond with nature.

His words inspired the audience to view conservation not just as a duty but as a part of family tradition and emotional heritage.

The session concluded with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks, where the school expressed its gratitude to Padmashree Kalyan Singh Rawat ji and the UCOST team for making the event enlightening and impactful.

The celebration of Himalaya Day at Sunrise Academy successfully instilled a sense of responsibility among students towards protecting the Himalayas and conserving nature for future generations.
