Like every year, an Inter-School Dohawali Competition was organized on 14th October 2025 at Sunrise Academy, Dehradun. The theme of the competition was “Presentation of Dohas of Kabir and Rahim.” Several reputed schools of the city enthusiastically participated in the event. The participants beautifully recited the meaningful couplets (dohas) of the great poets Kabir and Rahim.
The Chief Guest of the competition was renowned litterature and Editor of Navodit Pravah, Mr. Rajneesh Trivedi. The judges were Mrs. Sangeeta Rawat, Retired Senior Teacher from RIMC, and Mrs. Vibha Naudiyal, Senior Teacher at Kendriya Vidyalaya, Hathibarkala.
The Chief Guest was warmly welcomed by Dr. R. M. Saxena, Director of Sunrise Academy, and Mrs. Pooja Pokhriyal, Managing Director of the school. The welcome address was delivered by Mrs. Pooja Pokhriyal, while the vote of thanks was presented by Mrs. Nitu Tomar, the Principal of the School. The program was conducted by Class 11 students Sameepta Yadav and Kirti Tyagi.
Schools that participated in the competition included Doon Blossoms, New Doon Blossoms School, Mount Fort Academy, Guru Nanak Academy, Core International School, and Shigally Hill International School.
New Doon Blossoms School secured the First Position, while Guru Nanak Academy stood Second. All participants gave melodious and impressive performances. Students of Classes I and II of Sunrise Academy also presented a delightful cultural performance on this occasion.
All participants were awarded certificates. The winner school received a trophy, and the students who secured the second position were also presented with certificates.
The event was coordinated by Mrs. Monika Sharma, Administrative Officer and Senior Hindi Teacher of Sunrise Academy.
