Participation of Sunrise Academy in World Environment Day Nature Walk & Awareness Programme

Sunrise Academy actively participated in the World Environment Day Nature Walk & Awareness Programme held on 5th June 2025 at Lekhak Gaon. The event was organized to celebrate World Environment Day and raise awareness about pressing environmental issues faced globally, with a special focus on this year’s theme – “Ending Global Plastic Pollution.”

Students from Classes III to XII enthusiastically took part in this initiative, showcasing their concern and commitment towards environmental conservation. The programme began with a Nature Walk, where students, along with participants from various schools and colleges of Dehradun, walked through designated eco-sensitive routes, observing nature and understanding the importance of preserving biodiversity.

The Nature Walk was followed by an interactive quiz competition on environmental issues. This segment was both educational and enjoyable, motivating students to stay informed and involved.

Mr. Ashish Garg from the Eco-Group delivered a compelling presentation on the topic “Eco-Bricks and Sustainability,” providing practical insights on how waste materials can be creatively repurposed into eco-friendly building materials.

One of the most inspiring parts of the programme was the series of expert talks, delivered by Dr. V.P. Uniyal from Graphic Era University and Dr. Saumya Prasad from Nature Science Initiative.

The programme was sponsored by Dr. Sanjay Bhargava, representing the Housing and Urban Development Corporation (HUDCO), whose support contributed significantly to the event’s success.

Respected Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ ji graced the occasion with his presence. He encouraged students to participate in tree plantation activities and personally presented certificates to the young participants, boosting their morale.

The Chief Guest of the event was Shobharam Prajapati, Vice Chairman of the Mati Board, who addressed the gathering and applauded the students’ involvement in environmental protection.

The event was a great success and left a lasting impact on the young minds.
