World Environment Day
On the occasion of World Environment Day, students of Sunrise Academy participated enthusiastically in an environmental a wareness programme held at Lekhak Gaon, Dehradun, on 5 June 2026.
The day began with a nature interaction session led by Mr. V. P. Uniyal, who introduced students to bird calls, insects, and the ecological importance of fireflies. He explained the reasons for their declining population and emphasized the need for their conservation. During the nature walk, wildlife photographer Mr. Raju Pushola shared valuable insights about birds and biodiversity, while Mr. Ashish Garg demonstrated the concept of ECOBRICKS and highlighted sustainable ways to manage plastic waste.
The formal programme was inaugurated in the presence of the Chief Guest, Shri Sachidanand Bharti, renowned environmentalist and educator, who inspired participants with his message on environmental conservation. The gathering was also addressed by Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ and Mrs. Vidushi Nishank.
A special highlight was the release of two books—Natural Water Sources of the Shivalik Hills and Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam. Participants took an Environmental Protection Pledge, followed by a tree plantation drive. Certificates were distributed to all students. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks, leaving students inspired to become responsible environmental stewards.
